OH Ben Rowe (B 99) is spending June in the pool as he takes on Cancer Research UK’s Swim 20km Challenge.
Ben’s motivation is deeply personal. Earlier this year, a close family member was diagnosed with terminal leukaemia, prompting him to look for a meaningful way to support research into the disease.
Determined to make a difference, Ben signed up to swim 20 kilometres over the course of the month, raising funds for Cancer Research UK and helping to support the organisation’s ongoing work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
Reflecting on the challenge, Ben said:
“Earlier this year, a close family member was diagnosed with terminal leukaemia. It came on quickly, there is currently no cure.
I have been wondering what I can do to support research in this area and came across a challenge to swim 20km in June for Cancer Research UK. So, here we are.”
Ben is inviting friends, fellow Old Haileyburians and members of the wider Haileybury community to support his efforts. Every contribution, regardless of size, will help fund research that could improve outcomes for future generations facing cancer.
We wish Ben every success as he completes the challenge and thank him for supporting such an important cause. To support Ben’s fundraising efforts, please visit his giving page: Ben’s Giving Page
