The Haileybury Society is saddened to learn of the death of Major Richard William Naesmyth of Posso (E 52), who has died on 7th November 2023, aged 84.
Known to his friends as William, at Haileybury he was also known as Richard Webb.
At Haileybury, William became a prefect in the Michaelmas term in 1957, played in the XV (1957) and was the Rowing of the 2nd IV in the same year. His daughter, Charlie, tells us that the XV won 5 out of 6 of the matches it played – the only defeat (6:3) coming at Oundle.

Funeral details
William’s funeral will be held at 2pm on Thursday 23rd November, to which all who knew him are invited to attend.
