Product Details

Join us for another OH led Zoom talk on the evening of Tuesday 29th April to be entertained by Actor and Director Michael Heyland (A 54).

Born in Calcutta and educated at Haileybury, Michael then trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama both in drama & music. He acted in theatre, radio, TV and film before becoming Director of The D'Oyly Carte Opera Company (1969-1978). This included new productions of The Sorcerer, Utopia and Iolanthe at the West End, touring extensively in the UK, USA, Canada, & Europe, and directing the company’s television recording of HMS Pinafore in 1973. He went on to form an events consultancy directing Arts Festivals with clients such as LBC Radio, Fox FM, the Royal Choral Society, Cancer Research and other major Charities.

He managed the Royal Choral Society for sixteen years, promoting concerts at the Royal Albert and Festival Halls, and devised tours to France, Poland, Switzerland and Portugal, also making many recordings with the London Symphony Orchestra and RPO in the successful Classic Rock and Hooked on Classics albums with regular broadcasts on Radio 2. Later, he devised the Great London Bike Rides sponsored by a series of radio stations from LBC, JazzFm, KissFm & Heart Radio which ran for seventeen years. He has also acted more recently as events consultant at Rougham Airfield near Bury St Edmunds, producing five open air shows a year and expanded his repertoire to commentaries and voice overs.
