Haileybury history

Image of Chapel and Terrace at Haileybury

Established in 1862, Haileybury began its life on the quadrangle of the former East India College, which had closed in 1858. Today it is a fully co-educational school with intake split 50:50 between boys and girls.

Use these pages to find out more about Haileybury’s history, about former pupils who have died on active service and to send us your memories about your own time on Quad.

Why Donate?

The Haileybury Society is the only umbrella alumni association for Haileybury. Not only do we continue to engage with and support the School, we also provide a lifetime of networking and career support for every child who leaves as a member.

As a charity, we rely on our income from membership fees, legacies and donations of all sizes to achieve our charitable aims. It is only through your help that we are able to do this; any donation, no matter its size, will help us continue our work with the OH community.

Since 2002 over £1million of the Society’s charitable funds have been given in bursaries, grants and awards for the direct educational benefit of pupils at Haileybury, as well as other grants, including travel grants and supporting networking events and reunions.

In recent years are support has helped fund the new Grubber to mark the 150th anniversary of the school, together with projects such as a flight simulator for CCF, a netball scoreboard, cricket covers and honour boards, the printing and publication of a pupils’ poetry magazine, and regular support to Archives, the Library and the Chapel.
