OH Demyan Hibbard (L 15 & K) is preparing to take on the 2027 London Marathon, raising vital funds for Samaritans and helping to raise awareness of mental health.
Having studied Computer Science at the University of Bristol, Demyan became involved with the charity Movember through his university hockey team. Over the past four years, he has supported the campaign through fundraising, using the opportunity to encourage open and honest conversations about mental health among friends and teammates.
Now, Demyan is taking his fundraising efforts a step further by tackling the 26.2-mile London Marathon in April 2027, this time in support of Samaritans.

The charity provides emotional support to anyone struggling to cope, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, offering a listening ear when it is needed most.
Speaking about his motivation, Demyan explained: “They’re there for anyone, 24/7, especially in the late-night moments when people feel at their worst, and I think that matters enormously.”
Having only taken up running last year, Demyan admits that completing a marathon will be a significant personal challenge, but one he is looking forward to embracing.
With a fundraising target of £3,000, he has also planned a series of entertaining challenges along the way, including a parkrun in fancy dress, a beer mile and an overnight run.

The Haileybury Society wishes Demyan every success with his training, fundraising and, of course, the big day itself! We look forward to hearing how he gets on and sharing an update with the OH community following the marathon.
