Next year, one of our own, Philip Wistow (Th 11) is pushing himself to the limit in support of a cause close to many hearts. Determined to make a difference, he will be taking on HYDROX – a gruelling fitness challenge that combines endurance, functional strength and sheer grit – all to raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. HYDROX is not for the faint-hearted. It demands relentless stamina, discipline, and a willingness to keep going long after the body wants to stop. But for him, every mile run, every rep completed and every moment of discomfort will be fuelled by a bigger purpose: helping people living with cancer get the emotional, practical and medical support they urgently need.
Macmillan Cancer Support plays a critical role in ensuring no one faces cancer alone. From specialist nurses to financial advice and community programmes, their work supports individuals and families at the moments they need it most. The money raised through this challenge will go directly towards sustaining these services and reaching even more people in crisis.
As Phil writes
‘This January, I’m taking on HYROX to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support — a charity that has meant a huge amount to my family this past year. We wanted to give something back to the amazing people who change lives everyday. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated and contribute to a great cause.
Thank you!’
We are asking our community to get behind this effort and help contribute to this incredible cause. Whether it’s a donation, sponsorship, or simply spreading the word, every action – no matter the size – has an impact.
