On the 21st of April 2024 Ryan Welch (Tr 99) will be running the London Marathon to raise much needed funds for the Isabel Hospice, a charity that offers free palliative care and support to patients and their loved ones. Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course and have raised over a billion pounds for charity.
As Ryan writes,
“My story is similar to many families in East Hertfordshire who found the care and compassion provided by Isabel Hospice to be a great comfort when our family needed it most. So, it’s a great privilege to be able to return their support in a small way by raising money for their vital services.
If donations can be spared, I’d be extremely grateful for the support. Isabel Hospice must raise £7 million each year to guarantee its future, so every pound raised is received with huge thanks! “
Ryan Joined Haileybury in 1999, graduated in 2004 as part of Trevelyan House.
“I met my wife (Laura Welch nee Swaby, LS & Aby 98) at Haileybury and we were married in the chapel by Reverend Chris Briggs in October 2010, so we have an especially close and personal connection to the school.”
Ryan’s initial target is to raise £1000 for Isabel Hospice. The Haileybury Society wishes him every success in the Marathon – please do support him if you can by visiting his donation page. Donations will still be taken after the event if you are delayed in making your donation.
