The Haileybury Society is proud of everyone within the Haileybury alumni community and, this International Women’s Day, we are especially proud to celebrate the acheivements of our women members.
Fifty years of Haileybury women
At the end of last year of course we celebrate 50 years since girls first joined Haileybury, a school which half a century later is now fully co-educational. The Haileybury Society’s women continue to excel in all walks of life.
In the media…
Many women OHs have been extremely successful in their careers. In the media, for example, Luisa Baldini (Alb & E 90), a leading UK journalist, now runs a consultancy delivering presentation and communicationts training.
Following a successful career as a BBC producer, Joanne Matthews (nee Drake) (Alb, A & Tr 82) is now a careers adviser at Wellingborough.
In film…
Behind the scenes in the film industry, we were delighted to report recently on OH Suzi Battersby (Aby & C 00) whose work on prosthetics for Dame Helen Mirren in Golda led to an Academy Awards nomination.
In charity work…
Spirit of service runs deep in every OH and none more so than Clare Hanbury (Tr 77) who runs the international charity Children for Health. We were also pleased this year to report on the three Bowen sisters whose dedication to the Spirit of Service ethos crosses so many areas of society.
In fundraising for others
We are always impressed by the selflessn.ess of Society members in raising money for others less fortunate than themselves. Amongst those we celebrate this International Women’s Day are Madeline Kuncewicz (Ha 13); Helen Goddard (C & Alb 98) and Allenby HM Nicky Dawson (C 00).
These are just a few examples of the way Haileybury’s women are helping shape the world of today and tomorrow.
On this International Women’s Day, we celebrate not only their success but also the work of other OH women around the world who helping to change this world for the better.

I remember Adrian Sheen very well because we both played brass instruments and competed in the Music Competition in Bradby. I beat him with my French horn playing one year and the next he beat me with his superb trombone playing! Those were the days!
