The Haileybury Society is saddened to learn of the death in the Philippines of Bruce Malcolm Curran (C 62) who has died on 17th April 2020, aged 71.
Economics and City career
After Haileybury, Bruce studied for his BSc Soc Sc in Economics and Economic History at Edinburgh University, and later gained a BA in the same subject at Rhodes University, following which he began a career in finance in the Far East.
After 5 years as a Director at the Swire Group, Hong Kong, Bruce went on to work as a Senior Consultant for Campbell Alexander, advising ex-patriots on a wide range of financial and investment issues and writing widely on financial issues for Campbell Alexander and also Web Traders.

Travel writer
In recent years, Bruce moved to the Philippines where he became a freelance writer and also wrote a number of books including Blow Ur Horn, an account of his travels on a 1971 Norton Commando 750 (which he continued to own), Thirty + Fun Places to Play Billiards in Manila, and Combing the Coral Carpet, a book about sailing around the Philippines.
