Simon Hume Ellison (E 87)

The Haileybury Society is saddened to learn of the death of Simon Hume Ellison (E 87) who has died of cancer on 7th April 2020 at the age of 46.

After leaving Haileybury, Simon studied at Newcastle University, being awarded as BSc Hons in Agricultural and Environmental Science with Honours in Terrestial Ecoology. Following further studies at Nottingham University and Harvard Business School, he studied for an MBA, Innovation and Growth at Oxford Brookes University, which he was awarded in 2004.

Since then, Simon worked to develop the commercial performance of a variety of major organisations in the pharmaceuticals sector including the National Pharmacy Association, NHS Blood and Transplant, The Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult, Fisher BioServices and, most recently, World Courier, where he was Cell and Gene Therapy Service Director.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Simon’s funeral was attended only by close family and friends but a memorial service is planned for later in the year and we will circulate information on this when it becomes available. In his final weeks, Simon was cared for by Sobell House Hospice Charity, for whom a Just Giving page has been set up in Simon’s memory. Should you wish to donate, please click here

The Haileybury Society sends its deepest condolences to Simon’s family and friends at this difficult time.
