Black-Tie & Posh Frocks Dinner at Queen’s Club - Thursday 8th October 2026

Product Details

The Haileybury Society is delighted to invite you to this year’s Black Tie Dinner at the prestigious Queen’s Club, one of the highlights of our annual calendar - courtesy of Deane Pennick (B 77), chairman of the OH Rackets Society and hosted by our President, Fiona Illingworth (BF 76 & Alb).

We are especially pleased to welcome as our guest speaker Barry Gardiner (Th 71), Member of Parliament since 1997 and one of the most experienced and engaging voices in British public life.

This year’s dinner marks two significant milestones for Barry:

  • 30 years since entering the House of Commons
  • 50 years since leaving Haileybury, where he served as Head of School

A distinguished parliamentarian, former government minister and Shadow Cabinet member, Barry has built a reputation as a compelling speaker. Combining sharp political insight with wit, storytelling and a deep commitment to public service.

Following last year’s hugely popular evening with Quentin Letts (H 76), this promises to be another memorable occasion, offering not only excellent company and fine dining, but also a rare opportunity to hear from an Old Haileyburian with a distinguished career in Westminster reflecting on life in public service and beyond.

Whether you are reconnecting with contemporaries or strengthening ties across the OH community, this is a standout event in the Society calendar and always sells quickly. Spouses and partners welcome.

We warmly encourage early booking to avoid disappointment. The ticket is to include a pre-dinner drinks reception and a three course silver service meal, with wine and port served in the President’s Room. Drinks will be served from 6.30pm, dinner will be served at 7.30pm. Carriages at 11pm.

** A limited number of reduced price tickets (£65) are available for OHs aged 30 or under when booked alongside a OH family member paying the full ticket price. Please include both names within the comments section along with House and start year.

Venue: Queen’s Club, West London, W14 9EQ
