Old Haileyburian David Solomon (M 75) is returning to the stage this autumn with the world premiere of his original play, DAD, opening at London’s Golden Goose Theatre from 22 September to 3 October 2026.
After leaving Haileybury in 1980, David trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and enjoyed a successful career as a professional actor before moving into the corporate world as an executive coach and business trainer. Now, he has returned to his theatrical roots with a powerful new drama that explores the lasting impact of family relationships and childhood trauma.
Directed by Brittany Rex, DAD stars Ivan Kaye (Vikings, Gunpowder Milkshake, The Borgias, Layer Cake) and Nigel Betts (Doctor Who, Killing Eve, Toast of Tinseltown, Boy Meets Girl), alongside David Solomon, Paul Kelvin, Joanne Arber and Jerry Ezekiel.

The play follows Nathan, who reaches out to his brothers after their father disappears. As the search unfolds, long-buried truths begin to surface, forcing the family to confront the lasting effects of their father’s controlling behaviour and the trauma that has shaped each of their lives. DAD is a moving exploration of family, control and the enduring impact of the past.
