Arthur boxed for Haileybury in 1947 and was also in the Shooting VIII, serving with the Royal Engineers from 1948 before going on to study at Loughborough College in 1950.

His early career was spent as a civil engineer before going on to work with a number of charitable bodies including the Christian Fellowship (1956-67) and BMMF/Interserve  (1967-95), where he was also Director General. He was later chairman of a number of other organisations including: the Evangelical Missionary Alliance (1975-80); World Vision (1982-96); Carey College (1985-95); Council of European Missionary Alliances (1989-95); and the All Nations Christian College (1999-2004).

A licensed Law Minister, Church of England and  Council member of 7 other Christian organisations and colleges, Arthur was a regular church goer; in his final years he attended his local church, St John’s Eastbourne, where the rector was also an OH,  Ben Sleep (LS & K 89).

We are grateful to Arthur’s wife Judith for informing us of Arthur’s death and to whom we send our deepest condolences.
