We are very sad to announce the passing of Michael Halsey (BF 60) unexpectedly on 11th October 2025, aged 78. We send sincere condolences to his family.
Mike was a very engaged member of the Society who had a particular interest in the history of the school and its pupils. He often provided us with photographs and stories to share.
At Haileybury Mike was in the Second XI and very musical, including starring as a nobleman in the famous tour of The Mikado to Sweden in 1964, and regularly attended their decade reunions. He was a Life Member of the Old Haileyburian Rugby Football Club. He went on to a long career in Financial Services.
A memorial service for Mike will be held on 1 December 2025 at 11am at the Parish of St John’s Church, La Route de Saint-Jean, Jersey JE3 4BH, followed by refreshments at St John’s Parish Hall. At the family’s request no mourning dress please. Mike’s favourite colour was blue and he loved to wear colourful socks. In tribute to Mike please consider this in your dress or wear something colourful. In lieu of flowers, if you wish to commemorate Mike’s life, donations may be made via https://jerseygiving.je/sponsor/activity/memorial-service-2/family-halsey-crisp-peck The funds raised will be shared between two Jersey charities Jersey Cheshire Homes and Music in Action to honour Mike in a way that reflects his love of music, community, and compassion.
