Help James Nye (K 95) raising funds for Only A Pavement Away

We contacted James to help raise funds and support his latest charity – Only A Pavement Away. Heading to Taiwan in May, this is his story.

As James writes, ”Here we go again! I’m getting back on my bike again and heading to the heat and hills of Taiwan for this year’s Hospitality Rides epic adventure. I’m really proud to be part of this initiative that has raised over £1 million for Only A Pavement Away and Licensed Trade Charity over the last three years and this year we are looking to raise the bar again. Teaming up with some of the greatest personalities in hospitality, we are looking to raise money and awareness for these two brilliant charities that do so much for our industry.

Only A Pavement Away has helped more than 650 people from tough backgrounds find meaningful employment and purpose within hospitality. Licensed Trade Charity does so much to support those who need it most in our wonderful industry.

I am heavily involved with a project called Hospitality Rides (previously Pedalling for Pubs), a big charity bike ride organised by the hospitality industry each year, which has raised over £1m for OAPA and The Licensed Trade Charity over the last 3 years. OAPA is a charity that helps homeless, ex military and prison leavers into full time employment through hospitality and has helped over 650 people into meaningful employment since it was created in 2018. It is completely self funded and the bike ride is one of the biggest sources of funding for the charity, which is growing rapidly and hoping to get to over 1,000 people into employment landmark this year.

Beyond the bike ride, I am on the fundraising committee for OAPA and so any support or promotion you are able to provide would be very much appreciated.”
