Frank Tett (BF 53) – Career marketer who set up hedgehog charity

Frank Tett (BF 52)

The Haileybury Society is saddened to learn of the death of Frank William Tett (BF 53), who has died on 31st December 2019, aged 80.

At Frank’s request, his wife Veronica was in touch with Jane Everard (L & Alb 76), Society Secretary and with two members of the OH Lodge; all spoke directly with him before he passed away.

Frank said  that he was delighted to have reconnected with the Haileybury Society, the OH & ISC Lodge and the OHRFC in recent years. All of us who knew him will always remember a hard-working, kind, caring, gentle, warm and funny man.

At Haileybury Frank played front row in the XV in 1956 (above) and then went up to Pembroke College Cambridge. He had a long career in Sales and Marketing including an appointment as Head of Sales for Asia Pacific. He and his wife Veronica spent several years working in Australia.

Ever entrepreneurial, in retirement he and Veronica were able to expand their great interest in wildlife and set up a successful charity, Andrew’s Hedgehog Hospital, in 2014 in their home town of Appleby, Yorkshire; the details of which can be found here

The Haileybury Society sends its sincere condolences to his wife Veronica and family.

FUNERAL DETAILS

Since providing this update,  Frank’s wife Veronica has been in touch, including giving details of Frank’s funeral, to which all are welcome. We reprint her comments here:

“To everyone who has kindly donated to the memorial fund for Frank up until now I would like to say a very ‘big thank you’. We are going out to buy the garden bench this week and are also installing a waterfall so that anyone can sit on the bench and watch the waterfall. This is being installed by a company called Wonder Rocks and looks brilliant when it is lit up.The bench and waterfall will be in the garden of remembrance in the hedgehog village.

We are holding a memorial service on 3rd March at 2pm at St John’s Church in Brigg. If anyone would like to come and help us celebrate Frank’s life please let me know. All are welcome”
