Bespoke Silver 'Lightning Oak' Pendant

Product Details

Handcrafted by silversmith Malcolm Appleby MBE in his atelier in Scotland, each of these bespoke 17mm solid silver pendants is unique. They feature Haileybury’s iconic lightning oak tree on Terrace, together with a stylised winged heart so loved by OHs. Only 6 available.

MALCOLM APPLEBY MBE was born in Kent in 1946 and studied at Beckenham School of Art, Ravensbourne School of Art, the Central School of Arts and Crafts and Sir John Cass School of Art in the 1960s.

He is a celebrated silversmith and metal engraver known particularly for his designs inspired by the natural world. He moved to Scotland in the 1970s where his beautiful designs are exhibited at the Scottish Gallery and are highly sought after in the antiques world. In the years since he set up his shop in Aberfeldy, Perthshire, Malcolm’s list of achievements in the realm of metalworking has grown. His commissions have included a silver cup for the London Assay Office’s 500th anniversary, a cruet set for 10 Downing Street, a raven gun for the Royal Armouries and a table piece for Bute House, the residence of the Scottish First Minister.
