Established in 1862, Haileybury began its life on the quadrangle of the former East India College, which had closed in 1858. Today it is a fully co-educational school with intake split 50:50 between boys and girls.

There’s a Monkey on My Shoulder Zoom Talk by Tana Macpherson-Smith (Former Staff 1999-2013) - Wednesday 4th June, 2025 at 7.00pm

Product Details

Do please join us to hear first-hand about Tana’s incredible life journey! Tana, an enigmatic and engaging speaker, will be joined by her Monkeys to share her philosophy on mental health with the OH community.

After experiencing a life-altering mental health crisis in 2013, Tana retrained as a trauma therapist and mindset transformation coach, founding ClearMinds Education in 2015. Tana is now a mental health advocate, speaker, and storyteller dedicated to transforming the global mental health landscape by focusing on prevention and early intervention. An educator, mother and grandmother, Tana understands the immense challenges faced by young people, parents, and educators. Her work as a drama teacher, boarding housemistress, and senior school leader has left a lasting impact, helping young people build emotional resilience in an increasingly complex world.

Tana’s passion for mental health is deeply rooted in personal experience. After losing her quadriplegic mother at age seven and enduring years of emotional abuse, Tana’s breakdown in 2013 became a turning point, inspiring her mission to help others find their voice and heal.

Tana published her debut novel, There’s a Monkey on Your Shoulder, in November 2024 as a transformative resource for young readers and adults alike.

After her talk Tana would be very pleased to answer questions.
