1914-18 War
Over 50 OHs from Thomason died during the Great War. The Roll includes 2 MCs and a DSO.
One of the casualties was Patrick Innes (Th 1911). Patrick was Head of School at Haileybury in 1916 and was awarded History Exhibitioner scholarship to Trinity College, Cambridge in 1915.
A Second Lieutenant in the 111th Siege Bty, Royal Garrison Artillery, he was killed in action on 30th April 1917. ?
Patrick is buried at La Targette British Cemetery, Neuville-St.Vaast, France. His gravestone carries the following inscription:
SON OF H. McLEOD AND MARGARET INNES, CAMBRIDGE SURSUM CORDA
Patrick was 19 when he was killed.

1939-45 War
Nearly 30 OHs from Thomason died in the service of their country during WW2.
One of the Roll is Group Captain James More (Th 1924), OBE, DFC. A fighter pilot with numerous kills and shared kills to his name, James was awarded is DFC in 1940 and promoted to Acting Wing Commander.
He was posted to the Far East in 1941, awarded an OBE (Mil) and appointed Group Captain in 1942. During a sortie in his Hurricane in 1943, he was shot down and taken prisoner by the Japanese. He was drowned when his prison ship, Rakuyo Maru, was torpedoed and sunk by a US submarine on its way to Japan.
James was 34 when he died. He is commemorated on the Singapore Memorial.
