1914-18 War
Over 50 OHs from Colvin died during the Great War. The roll includes a VC, 3 MCs, 2 DSOs, a DCM and a French Croix de Guerre.
Just one example of the tragedy of war is Maurice Murray (C 1909). A lieutenant in the Essex Regiment, Maurice played in the second eleven and the XV at Haileybury, where he was also a Classical Scholar. A Rustat Scholar at Cambridge, Maurice was killed in action at Loos on 26th September 1915, aged 20.

1939-45 War
Over 20 OHs from Colvin died in the service of their country during WW2.
One of the Roll is Squadron Leader Samuel Jones, DFC (C 30) who flew from Lissett on the night of 30 Mar 1944 from Lissett. His Handley-Page Halifax bomber was shot down by flak on the outbound flight and crashed at Hachenburg, NW of Westerburg. He is buried at Rheinberg War Cemetery in Germany.
