You may already have seen that OH Katie Stacey (M 01) released her debut book, No Paradise With Wolves, in December last year. The book tells the remarkable story of how Katie and her husband, wildlife photographer and cameraman Luke Massey, transformed a disused dairy farm in northern Spain and start a new life close to the wild.

Katie’s journey to this point has taken her around the world. After leaving Haileybury, she studied Sport Science at the University of Edinburgh and briefly worked as a broker in London before feeling the pull of adventure and the natural world.
A ski season in the Alps was followed by time teaching diving in Honduras and later running a small bush camp in Zambia, her father’s home country. It was there that she met Luke, beginning a partnership that would see them travel widely while documenting wildlife and conservation stories together.
One of their earliest projects followed a pair of peregrine falcons nesting in Chicago. The story went viral online and led to the couple returning the following year to film the birds for the BBC Natural World documentary Super Fast Falcons.
In the years since, their work has taken them across the globe, from hyenas in Harar and otters in Singapore to jaguars in Brazil and lynx in Spain, with their storytelling appearing in publications including BBC Wildlife and National Geographic.
It was their work in Spain that eventually led them to Asturias in the north of the country, where they began restoring a former dairy farm now known as Wild Finca. Today it is both their family home and a small rewilding project and the inspiration behind No Paradise with Wolves.
Through the story of Wild Finca, Katie explores what it means to rebuild a life around nature and to live alongside wildlife, including predators such as the Iberian wolf.
The book has already attracted significant attention and was recently included in BBC Wildlife’s list of Best Books of 2025. Publishers Weekly praised it as “an inspiring story of vision and deep love and connection with the land.”
Alongside writing and wildlife storytelling, Katie now also focuses on helping families reconnect with nature in everyday life through her framework The Wild Shift.
