After reading an inspiring social media post from Alex, we decided to contact him in the hope to share his story.
‘In October last year I noticed a small lump and decided to get it checked out after a couple weeks and it turned out to be very early stage of testicular cancer. Luckily it was caught very early, and I was rushed through the NHS and had an op 3 weeks later which was a success. Since then, I am now on a 10-year monitoring course where I have regular 3 months checks for any sign off it coming back
My most recent scan was fully clear.’
With many male OHs within our community, it’s even more important to raise awareness (and money) into the research and treatment of Testicular Cancer. Testicular Cancer is the most prominent cancer in men aged 15-49, with around 2,400 new cases in the UK every year, that’s more than 6 every day. However, if detected early, Testicular Cancer is one of the most curable cancers.
The initial target is to raise £25,000 for The OddBalls Foundation. The Haileybury Society wishes Alex and his colleagues every success in completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge (24 miles and 5200ft of ascent) on 26th June 2025. Please do support Alex if you can by visiting his donation page where you can read his full story.
Help us raise awareness of Testicular Cancer to breakdown the stigma and encourage more men to check themselves on a regular basis, in doing so to detect any problems early.
