Here at The Haileybury Society, we love to inspire our young OHs by celebrating the successes of our members. After reading about James’s latest venture, we contacted him to share his news…
“A life in gold:
I’ve been working in the international gold market for many years now, helping people understand the role of gold in all its forms. This means working closely with organisations the length of the gold value chain, ultimately with the aim of driving interest in, and demand for gold.
Storytelling:
Marketing gold to global audiences involves knowing how to draw upon the right information and insights, so that what we communicate resonates and builds a compelling case for gold.
A large part of this is being a good storyteller. Being able to shape factual narratives that surface the most fascinating aspects of gold, from jewellery, to investments, to medical and technological applications.
On the road:
Last year I completed my most significant content project to date, creating a feature film starring Idris Elba, which we recently sold to Netflix. Originally we self-published the film as I wanted to drive reach online before moving to streamers. So far it was been watched over 17 million times.
‘GOLD: A Journey with Idris Elba’ meant being on the road with Idris in Canada, Ghana, South Africa and the UK. From freezing blizzards to asteroid craters, this project was the most exciting to date. Idris was a pleasure to work with and I’m currently working on two new documentaries as we speak.
After my degree I started my career in digital marketing and have grown as marketing specialist across digital, social, TV, print, outdoor, the full mix. However, I’m happiest when I’m working on creative content marketing projects where there’s an untold story to bring to life.”
