The Haileybury Society is saddened to learn of the death of past President William Andrew John – “John” – Treneman (K & M 44) on 17th November 2023, aged 93.
At Haileybury John was a prefect and Head of School in 1948. He represented the school in the XV in 1947 & 1948, was Captain of Athletics in 1948 and Company Sargeant Major in the CCF.
He played rugby with the OHRFC and won a major Classics Scholarship to Caius Cambridge, gaining a First in 1953, going on to an international career in top ranked advertising agency Ogilvy and Mather.
John was President of the Society in 1991-92. He had a lifelong love of all things Haileybury and was a loyal and stalwart supporter of The Haileybury Society, both as a Voluntary Subscriber, attending events and maintaining an interest in our work. We send sincere condolences to his son Bill (M 74) and the family.
Funeral Arrangements
John’s funeral was held at Randalls Park Crematorium, Randalls Rd, Leatherhead, KT22 0AG on 19th Dec 2023 at 11am
