The Haileybury Society is saddened to learn of the death of past President William Andrew John – “John” – Treneman (K & M 44) on 17^th November 2023, aged 93.

At Haileybury John was a prefect and Head of School in 1948. He represented the school in the XV in 1947 & 1948, was Captain of Athletics in 1948 and Company Sargeant Major in the CCF.

He played rugby with the OHRFC and won a major Classics Scholarship to Caius Cambridge, gaining a First in 1953, going on to an international career in top ranked advertising agency Ogilvy and Mather.

John was President of the Society in 1991-92. He had a lifelong love of all things Haileybury and was a loyal and stalwart supporter of The Haileybury Society, both as a Voluntary Subscriber, attending events and maintaining an interest in our work. We send sincere condolences to his son Bill (M 74) and the family.
